Last week, our Directors, Jesse and Jeremy, travelled to Da Nang, Vietnam , to attend the LEADER APAC Forum . A premier event bringing together global technology partners, innovators, and industry leaders.

Set on the stunning central coast of Vietnam, Da Nang provided the perfect backdrop for a forum focused on growth, connection, and the future of technology. With breathtaking beaches, vibrant culture, and world-class hospitality, the region showcased both warmth and innovation — a fitting environment for discussions that shape the future of IT.

For New Future IT, this trip was about more than attending an event.

It was about looking ahead.

It was about exploring new ways to bring value to regional Australian businesses.

Throughout the forum, Jesse and Jeremy connected with a wide range of industry leaders who are shaping the future of technology across the Asia-Pacific region. It was an inspiring opportunity to sit down with the people behind the products and explore how their innovations can translate into real value for our clients back home.

They spent time with the team from Leader Systems, including Jaimie, discussing new programs and ways we can continue delivering more capability and affordability to regional businesses. Conversations with MSI’s Shirley gave us deeper insight into upcoming hardware advancements and how these new developments can expand the options available to Australian customers.

Power protection and business continuity were strong themes too. Chats with Atish and Rob from PowerShield highlighted how their bespoke UPS solutions can be tailored to the unique challenges faced by Territory organisations, particularly in remote areas where reliability is non-negotiable. And when it came to cybersecurity and resilience, meeting Yanko and Darren from Acronis provided a valuable look into the next generation of security and disaster recovery systems, especially as cyber risks continue to evolve.

Across every conversation , one thing was clear: innovation thrives when people come together . Each discussion opened up new opportunities, new ideas, and new ways to strengthen the solutions we deliver — helping us stay ahead of emerging technology and ensuring our clients benefit from the best the industry has to offer.

The event brought together an impressive group of attendees, leaders, innovators, and technology thinkers all working towards uplifting businesses and communities through smarter, more accessible technology.

The final evening wrapped up beautifully.

Theo and the Leader Systems team hosted a special closing dinner in Hoi An, where guests enjoyed Vy’s Market Restaurant followed by the spectacular Hoi An Memories Show. It was a night of connection, culture, and inspiring conversations about the role technology plays in driving positive change across our part of the world.

And of course, beachside in Da Nang never disappoints, a perfect place to reflect on how far our industry has come and where it's heading next.

Tristan’s story began in the heart of the Northern Territory—in Katherine , where he was born, raised, and where he first discovered his passion for tech.

He joined New Future IT as a trainee, eager to learn and even more eager to give back to the community that raised him. From day one, it was clear Tristan had something special. He asked the right questions, showed up with purpose, and quickly turned theory into action.

And we backed him every step of the way. Because at New Future IT, we believe in creating opportunities for locals, by locals .

Fast Forward: Katherine’s Go-To Tech Support

Today, Tristan is no longer a trainee. He’s now a full-time team member , providing onsite IT support in Katherine and across the wider Big Rivers Region .

He’s helping local businesses—cafés, tourism operators, health services, community organisations— leverage technology to grow , protect their data, and streamline the way they work.

“I love that I can help local businesses solve real problems with technology. They’re not just clients—they’re people I grew up with, people I see around town. It’s personal,” Tristan says.

Our First Step into QLD - Bridging the Digital Divide for Mornington Island

Last month, our Director, Jesse, embarked on a journey covering more than 1,000km by air from Darwin to Mornington Island in Queensland—a tiny but proud community nestled in the Gulf of Carpentaria. The journey might’ve been long, but the outcome made every kilometre worth it.

Enhancing Access to Essential Services

Our journey from Darwin to Mornington Island covered more than just distance—it bridged a critical gap in access to technology and essential services for one of Queensland’s most remote communities.

This trip was about listening, learning, and making sure that our technology helps real people in real ways.

Mornington Island may be isolated by geography, but it’s home to people who deserve the same level of digital support and service access as anyone in the country.

Partnering with Services Australia, we delivered and installed dedicated workstations that allow residents to access critical platforms like Centrelink, Medicare, and the ATO—right from their own community.

For many on Mornington Island, this changes everything.

Instead of relying on long wait times, limited phone service, or needing to travel off-island for basic support, locals can now manage their own affairs—onsite, securely, and independently. Whether it’s updating family payments, submitting tax returns, or accessing healthcare benefits, they now have the tools to do it without leaving the island.

And in communities like this—where reliable support can sometimes feel out of reach—that kind of access isn’t just helpful. It’s empowering.

It means dignity. It means choice. And it means locals are now better equipped to manage their own futures, without unnecessary barriers.

This wasn’t just a tech install—it was a step toward greater equity.

A Community That Leaves a Mark

Mornington Island, known traditionally as the land of the Lardil people, is rich in culture and resilience. Around 1,200 people call this island home, and from the moment we arrived in the township of Gununa, we were welcomed with open arms and warm smiles.

Our Director, Jesse, shared just how much the visit meant to him personally:

“The welcome from the Mornington Island community was incredible. It reminded me why we do what we do—showing up, solving problems, and building something real with communities that are too often overlooked.”

It wasn’t just a project—it was an experience. One filled with meaningful conversations, new connections, and a renewed sense of purpose.

This first trip into Queensland is part of a bigger commitment—to support more remote communities with boots-on-the-ground service, reliable tech solutions, and a passion for making a difference.

We’re looking forward to returning to Mornington Island and expanding our support across the state. Because everyone deserves access to the tools that help them thrive—no matter how remote.

It’s exciting for all of us here at New Future IT to be working with the Northern Territory Government and our partners to create opportunities in technology for territorians.

A terrific morning having Minister Ngaree Ah Kit visit our office and spend time with our team meeting them and hearing about their career pathways.

The minister was joined by representatives from the Department of Corporate and Digital Development as well as leaders of several ICT companies. Seeing so many people sharing the same desire to create opportunities in technology gives us more energy and confidence to continue our mission and try and do more.

Investing In Territory Trainees to Boost Digital Industry

Our Territory Labor Government is developing skills locally as we work towards a $40 billion economy by 2030.

We know that digital skills will be in high demand and that homegrown talent and career path development is the best way to grow local industries to reach this economic target.

We are helping young Territorians into digital careers and growing the Territory’s digital capacity with a Cross Sector Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Traineeship Program.

This is a joint initiative with the ICT Industry Association of NT (ICTNT) with $230,000 allocated to help young Territorians start their digital careers with a local digital business.

The program aims to provide more investment in the training and development of young Territorians, increase the number of ICT trainees in the NT, and support local digital industry growth and capability.

It is open to any local digital business that employs or intends to employ ICT trainees in the NT.

The first cohort of trainees recently commenced with New Future IT , NEC, and Kinetic IT with more traineeships currently available.
