At New Future IT, our mission is to empower regional and remote communities through technology. Last month, our Director, Jesse, embarked on a journey covering more than 1,000km by air from Darwin to Mornington Island in Queensland—a tiny but proud community nestled in the Gulf of Carpentaria. The journey might’ve been long, but the outcome made every kilometre worth it.

It’s exciting for all of us here at New Future IT to be working with the Northern Territory Government and our partners to create opportunities in technology for territorians. A terrific morning having Minister Ngaree Ah Kit visit our office and spend time with our team meeting them and hearing about their career pathways. The minister was joined by representatives from the Department of Corporate and Digital Development as well as leaders of several ICT companies. Seeing so many people sharing the same desire to create opportunities in technology gives us more energy and confidence to continue our mission and try and do more.
As technologists, it’s easy to get caught up in the latest innovations, focusing on implementation and performance. But technology is only as effective as the people using it. That’s why training is a core part of what we do at New Future IT.
